Pre Tan Care
Take a Shower
Shower directly before your appointment to remove any beauty products or acidity from the skin. Avoid washing your hair before your appointment.
Exfoliate as best as you can to ensure your skin is as clean and even as possible. Exfoliation will remove all dead skin cells creating a clean surface for the tan to adhere to. For best results, it is recommended that you exfoliate 24-48 hours in advance. If you are unable to meet the recommended time window, a quick exfoliation the morning of your appointment will suffice. Exfoliating mitts are available for purchase at the salon and are perfect for those without time to exfoliate due to coming from work/booking a last minute tan.
Shaving and Waxing
Any waxing must be done at least 24 hours prior to your apointment. Shaving, if necessary, should be done 6-24 hours prior to your tan.
Remove Lotions and Products
Skin must be free from makeup, moisturizers, perfumes and deodorants, as these will act as a barrier and alter the results of your tan. Avoid using products containing SLS, mineral oils or fragrances before your appointment. You may remove products just prior to your tan if necessary.
What to Wear
Come dressed in loose, dark clothing - cotton or similar with minimal stitching is best. Avoid wearing satin, silk, leather or lycra after tan application. Due to Alabama's warm climate, if you plan to wear shorts after your tan, be sure to have a towel to sit on - especially if you have leather seats in your vehicle.
Post Tan Care
Tan development times differ, but its best to not shower for at least 8 hours after your tan. Rinse off your tan with warm water ONLY for the first shower, gently brushing over the body to ensure the bronzer is removed evenly. Pat dry your body with a towel after each shower.
When to Moisturize
Do not moisturize your body until after your second shower to allow the tan to continue to develop to its full depth. This usually takes about 24 hours. Avoid using products containing SLS and mineral oils, as these can cause the tan to fade quickly and alter the color.
Extending Your Tan's Life
Avoid chlorine, massages, excessive exercise or saunas within the first 24 hours while the bronzer sets and develops. Avoid wearing tight clothing for the first 16-24 hours (jeans, tights, fitness wear) as it can leave marks whilst in the developing stage. Avoid using products containing SLS and mineral oils, as these can cause the tan to fade quickly and alter the color. Typically your tan should last 7-10 days.
Keep In Mind
Our solution does not contain SPF, so don't forget to apply sunscreen to protect yourself while outdoors. Stay hydrated! 2 liters of water a day does wonders for the longevity of your tan.
